Becoming Enlightened
    #4646654 - 09/11/05 05:58 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Many of you technology nuts might want to go here: http://elivecd.org/ and download this live cd with an up to date Debian Linux and a functional version of the Enlightenment 17 window manager already configured for use. It is also installable. Enlightenment is pioneering many desktop effects that are unique to it. It is setting a new high water mark in desktop computing technology. This is technology that will change the industry in general. It is a quick path to Enlightenment.

I've used and loved e16 for years. I'm chomping at the bit for e17 to go into gentoo's portage, but it hasn't yet. I thought about trying elive, but I kinda don't want to ruin the surprise of seeing it for the first time on my own system.

Elive is installable. E17 is in portage as I have installed it from there before. Here http://get-e.org/User_Guide/English/_pages/2.2.html is how. Elive is fully configured while the portage version stills feels very alpha.

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda
