I have found,the uncolonized substrate seems to fill in faster with a pocket of air at the bottom.Just my findings however.

Really? I have always found that if you 'leave' the jar flipped over, the mycelium starts to expand OUTWARD instead of towards the center where it should be going....causing it to take longer (if left flipped over)
just my findings however.

Read my post. I said to leave the jar UPSIDE-DOWN.tHE AIR POCKET WILL BE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE JAR,BUT WILL BE FACING UP. I am not interested in going back and forth with you.

Why are you getting defensive, I was just trying to discuss something you obviously know a lot about.... now if you READ MY POST AGAIN you will see that what I am saying is to FLIP/SLAP the jar, then FLIP IT BACK, right-side-up; you know, so it SLIDES BACK DOWN to the bottom, with fresh air. This way, the mycelium WILL continue to grow INWARD towards the CENTER, and NOT UPWARD towards the AIR-POCKET which will add at least another 3 days to the wait.
Do you dissagree? Boxtop.. Are you still there?

i found that having a large air pocket around the uncolonized substrate speeds things up a lot more than simply doing a gas exchange and leaving it back in the bottom with minimal air.

I have tried both ways. I leave air space,my jars fully colonize in 15-20 days,and are VERY white and fluffy.That's good enough for me.

wank wank! Yet again i think you are talking crap! Why do you instantly jump at the chance to get nasty with someone just because they are questioning your limited experience...Im sure you are talking about the Ko samui spore race and i got that to colonise in just under 12 days 300ml with no 'air pocket' - flip em either way it doesnt make a difference as long as the co2 gets moved around...Better still work out a way to give them air exchange such as a filter...it speeds things up dramatically...

Why would i go to a site promoting a plastic bucket?? Im sure that you are fluent enough in internet use to be able to post pictures of your mushroom experience - i just dont see why you have to some out with nasties like 'in my experience thais are always fat arsed' - 'in my experience you get more pins in light' - 'in my experience an air pocket after flipping (some how) effects colonisation' the fact is your talking shit and we all know it - you could have atleast read a few posts from other people so you could give us some second hand knowledge...Atleast upgrade from BRF...:-)
