    #4646287 - 09/11/05 04:06 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Would it be a good idea to print every cool mushroom I find? I have found a couple patches of big thick neon orange slimy looking mushrooms... Havent id'd them yet, but im slowly flippin througha  big book... I thought it would be a good idea to print them... maybe start a patch near home to look at... Also, would A. muscaria prints be useful to have? would I be able to someohow start a little patch below one of my trees (birch, pine, you name it )? would anyone want a. muscaria prints (for no real cost of course)?
Just askin if there is any point to collecting prints of wild mushrooms...

Well, since spore printing is an important part of identification.. The more mushrooms you collect and spore print, the more you will be able to learn. I mean when I first got into this hobby, that's pretty much what I did. I went out and grabbed every mushroom I could find and then spore printed the whole mass of species on paper when I got home. After that I would just scan through my books, keys, and the internet to try and ID or narrow them down.

Amanita muscaria (and its close variations) currently defy all cultivation attempts.
