Hello all, I just need a little bit of advice just to make sure I'm doing everything right. 8 days ago I incolated 10 jars with a B+ strain syringe using the PF tek. i then put them in my closet in a tub.(which I'm gonna use has the grow chamber later)Its been 8 days and I'm only seeing a little white on one jar. The temp in the tub has been around 75-77 the hole time with around 50% humidity. I'm i doing everything right??? for awhile I thought I didn't be very sterile but I guess so cause there is white on one jar. Its about the size of a dime the white. Anyway does everything sound OK? do they just need more time and thats all? BTW this is my first attempt and any advice or help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You know what I think? I think B+ is a slow colonizer. That's why I'd recommend Golden Teachers to newbies rather than B+'s. Anyway, you should put like a heating blanket under the tub. And keep a thermostat in there. It should be around 85 degrees. But I like to keep mine at 80 degrees. But mine are slowly, but surely colonizing. I have two of them that are about to touch the other myc injection site on the jar after about a little over two weeks after injection. -pokes at his jar- Patience is a virtue. -Jabber

You might want to raise the temp in your incubator to about 82-86. Also are the holes in your caps covered or uncovered? I noticed my jars colonized faster when they were uncovered.
If you used the correct water in the mix, humidity isnt really a huge factor during the incubation period.

yeah, my optimal tempature is 83 in the incubation chamber. your temps are too low, make sure you have the lids on loose, not tight. They need the air exchange.

Temperatures should be 80-84 deg. F.
You don't need humidity for colonizing, only for fruiting.
Newcomers commonly make that mistake ^^^^
And I'm tripping :P
Oh and keep the holes uncovered..

I think colonization times depends on what it is colonizing. I am colonizing B+ and GT right now, both on an LC and on rye. The B+ is tearing up the LC but not growing too fast in the rye. My GT's are just the opposite. My teks were followed to a t and all are in the same incubaton chamber at 85 degrees.

106 is thermal death of mushies, you want your temp to be between 80-86 i found that mine like 83 in the chamber. (in otherwords the air tempature in the incubation chamber should be 83) dont forget the jars are always a few degrees warmer inside. The reason you leave the lids on loose is so that air can get in and out. If there is not sufficent gas exchange it will slow grow severly, and it will promote anerobic bacteria.

Then you should be a ok. Ill give you another tip. Next time you make jars, poke some quarter inch holes intop and stuff them with poly fill. I do that and leave the lids on loose, i can go from inaculation to a fully colonized jar in 8 days.
