pins then stall
    #4645482 - 09/11/05 12:19 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

Hey,
there are some trays of cased birdseed/poo that started off great. They got a huge pinset soon after casing, but then stalled. They have been stalled as tiny 1/4 to 1/2 inch pins for about 3 weeks now. They are in a fruiting chamber that was used a few years ago for a project that went flawlessly. (pearlite in plastic bin w/ bubble wands under the pearlite)

any ideas? Ive read through all the faq's n forums and as far as I can tell, everything has been done correctly.

thanks

Maybe I should mention that the grow that went flawlessly a few years ago was only birdseed, no poo.

Sorry for the bump, but does anyone have any ideas? this is driving me nutz. the pins are beautiful. still all look very alive. I think even more have come up (since the beginning), but they dont grow over 1/2 inch. A larger air pump has been added, and the airstones are definately not clogged.

It's either a lack in fresh air exchange or the substrate's too dry. They haven't started to turn black or dark blue?

No.. still tan w/ brown tops.. they look exactly as they should. Been fanning them all the time now, the sides of the chamber are covereed in condensation.

I really don't get it. The only thing different than when this was done years ago is using h poo..

could PH or something cause this? casing is just coir/verm. No oyster or lime or whatever. But, never had to use that b4 w/ just birdseed.

Casing layer is nice and moist as well? You might try to dunk the substrate right in it's tray for about 12 hours or so. Then drain well and allow it to continue to grow out.

would it hurt to put in the fridge overnight now that it has pins?

temps are a little warm. well, upper 60's at night, and about 88 durring the day.

88's way too hot for fruiting IMO. The fridge won't hurt anything. It will just slow down production. To be honest, 3 weeks is a while not to see any advancement. I seriously dought they will continue on. Your last resort is a dunk and to get those temps lowered. 75 degrees is prime for fruiting cubensis IME's.....

cool.. I'll blame it on the heat.. Ive really got no way to lower the temps. Its just damn hot.
