Too wet?
    #4644683 - 09/11/05 03:35 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

After PCing 4 tuperware plastic jars, I noticed water ran from the foil that covered the tuperware lids. I imagined water wouldn't have entered the jars. Just to be sure I opened up one of the jars to check to see how damp the substrate/vermiculite layer was. The top layer of vermiculite was damp to the touch but not wet, I digged around in the substrate and it hate a pastey consistancy, also the jars seemed to have condensation on the inside which didn't run when i tipped them.

I'm now worried incase they're too wet for the mycelium to grow, i injected them with spores around 6 hours ago, is there a chance they'll be too wet?
What'll be the conciquences of the substrate being too moist?

Any more help regarding question i haven't asked would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Usually the top layer of vermiculite gets wet (it absorbs water ya know) but it will usually dry out within a few days.

They don't sound too wet...

They should be fine as long as you followed the recipe for substrate. I wouldent advise using the jars you stuck your fingers in. Or opend for that matter.
