Ever felt like you needed a break from tripping?
    #4644441 - 09/11/05 02:27 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I have tripped probably 20 times total. I have never before felt like I needed to take a break for a while, I was always ready to go again in a couple weeks. I tripped pretty hard a few times(7gram dose and 11 gram dose, cubensis) in the last few weeks and now I feel like maybe I should take a month or so off, maybe more. I feel like I gained so much knowledge I need to catch my breath and process it all. Just thought it was a wierd sensation. Anyone else have phases like this?

True that, I've also done the year + break. Abusing psychedelics takes away the magic, IMHO.

Not exactly.  I understand what you mean, though.  Particularly profound experiences need time for you to digest and integrate them into your life.

That being said, I've always been more of a "Eat the marshmallow NOW!" kind of guy.  In this case, the mashmallow would be the psychedelics. (Mmmmm... puffy)  The danger for me is in beginning to treat them casually, reducing a sacred ritual into a profane one--in which I'm just taking it because it's there, maybe out of boredom or habit, but not the proper amount of respect one should possess for substances as remarkable as these.

So more recently, I've tried not to use anything without giving it some consideration and forethought first.  And if I wait until the time is right, the lustre is fresh and the experience is novel, (vs. "Here we go again.").  That being said, I'm just a fiend for psychedelics, and have been for many years now.  Just in the past 1 1/2 to 2 years, I would conservatively estimate that I have tripped at least 75 times, if you count every time I took mushrooms, mescaline, 5-Meo-/DMT, 2C-E, 2C-I, and salvia. (I might not even count the salvia, but I always took that with the Meo, and that mix is... un-fucking-believable.  -e.g. shifting through dimensions)

A little while ago though, I took about a 3-4 week break, and when I came back to the mushrooms, it was so refreshing.  But you're making the right call.  Your next experience will definitely be sweeter the longer you wait for it.

Vaya con dios :wexican:

during a spiral of development some things loved become rejected for a while, the actual motion is progressive for the being, but may seem negative to a particular thing like tripping or even sex, like school or family.
on another round in the progressing spiral the rejected thing may be absorbed again differently as the being will have grown naturally.

If you really knew what you were doing, you can see the end of your tripping lifestyle and evolution before you get there. It all begins with intellectualizing every facet of the experience, and really trying to figure it out. All facets of the experience

Cause some people can get stuck there, and not in a bad way.
They just are there almost all the time. If your one of those people who want to, and beleive you will keep doing hallucinogens forever. Ayahuasca will change these veiws quite rapidly. It, like shrooms can even scare you away from the stuff. If you have schyzophrenia say, on both sides of your family. The points made by the other are much clearer. Those people will stop eventually.

Some people, can do high doses for life, but that usually means they never got the point, or the matrix of truths. They usually have already confussed even their own experiential evolution, that they dont even know where the chain of logic goes even as it pertains to the most fantacy oriented parts of their experiences.
The people who stop altogether are the most special shaman-types that exist

Some people never abuse the stuff, and quit for long periods of time, or forever.

I think Land Crab put into words how I feel..."Here we go again." I never thought that way about tripping before. I feel like I didn't respect the experience the way I should have the last couple times and the mushrooms did a fine job of showing me how much respect and trust is necessary. I ate the mushrooms cause they were there and I had nothing else to do and that, as I have now realized, is not what psychedelics are for.

I don't believe two weeks constitutes a "break," try a year or more off and then take a medium-high dose. This really instills the respect and awe of the mushroom once again.

I have no idea how long that break will last. It's all about when I feel ready to trip again. It could be a year, it could be 6 months, or it could be 1 month, I really have no idea right now.
