Fall has, uhh, fallen...
    #4642212 - 09/10/05 01:19 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Ahhh I get to post pics finally .  I was having camera troubles and some are kinda blurry, but I figured they were post worthy anyway, since I haven't seen any mycoporn from up here in a long time .  Things are just starting to get going up in the cascades.  found one old patch of white chants that had been up a week or so and another with lots of pins waiting for some more rain to pop out of the soil.  a handful of decent sized fruits in good condition were already up.  didn't see any yellows, but I hear they're up and around too. got some pretty decent rain up there yesterday and today, should be a good week for edible hunting PNWers , get out there if ya can...  elevation was approx. 2400-2600 feet.

Cantharellus subalbidus

some old Gomphus clavatus

A couple small Gomphus floccosus pins

a dark pic of this years first Gymnopilus ventricosus/spectabilis flush, the stems from last years (my avatar) are still there under them.  they must produce some pretty wicked antibiotics...

some other gyms I have never seen before, the caps and stems are purplish and they have no veil.  they have the telltale gym look and fruity smell though.  growing out of very decayed conifer debris on the forest floor.  held on to one a little while to check for bluing, saw none and trashed it, cool to find anyways though .

and here are some pretty purple wildflowers I stumbled upon

"A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly fifteen hundred pounds of marijuana within about 15 minutes to induce a lethal response... In strict medical terms, marijuana is far safer than many of the foods we commonly consume. For example, eating ten raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death."

Nice finds.

Those last "gyms" look a lot like Tricholompsis rutilans to me.

Happy mushrooming!

hi...DH

I had a phone call from some of my friends that live up in the mountains last night.

The Yellows are out now.
They filled up a couple large grocery sacks full.

And the Humpies(Salmon) are in the Skykomish river.
They caught 2.

So they are having Salmon and Chants for dinner tonight...

and I'm suck at home with the Flu.

:frown:
