Hi AFOAF using an air pump and bubbler stone set up in a reg comleman cooler with 1 excape port 1" abouve layer of perl with pump on timer (set by 15min intervals or +) was curious how many cycles per day and how long per cycle would be approit enough for verry adequet co2 exchange ? also in doing air exchanges due to a bubler set up will that decrease the level of humidity in terrium ? would coffee filters over ports be sufficient enough to prevent introduction of contams through the ports and still allow propper air passage ? thx for all and any help . peace.

With perlite, growing casings, it works nicely. I don't use a bubbler, just air blowing in. I don't make a big deal out of humidity (or light), and manage quite well.

Theres no doubt in my mind about that also , at no point was i saying that i didnt respect his opinion or did i not think it was a worthy one , ive read alot of his posts and i know he's experienced in this field , i was just looking for more ideas to compare to thats all , if you guys think that that wont effect afoafs temps or humidity level he'll give it a shot , if though it could possibly efect these fields then hes looking for more input and different techniques and or settings for running his pump , thx for the help so far guys . peace

I would leave the pump on 24/7 because it keeps a constant supply of fresh air, and it will raise the humidity. As for the coffee filter, it is not small enough to stop mold spores, but you might want to try either a filter disk (like micron majic) or stuff some polyfill in there. Don't worry about the filter seeming too small to allow gas exchange. When new air comes in, the heavier stuff on the bottom near the hole will be the first stuff pushed out and it will not have a problem gettings out (unless your filter's holes are smaller than a Co2 molecule. Hope this helps.

The reason for coffeey filters being used is because afaof dosnt have the spare cash right now to get the filter disks . if the coffee filter wouldnt help in the aid to prevent the introduction of contams how would airiated polyfiberfill prevent them ? the fiberfill has much lager passages for them to sneak past , if this helps in aiding info on the set up the filters were planning being placed at the ends of an outport tube for which the co2 could be released , seeing as how the pump will probally be run 24/7 there would be constant outgoing flow of air , could contams still work past this out flow and enter terium ? kinda like a trout going upstream ? or do you think because of the constant out flow there would be no way for them to be introduced? thx for all the helpso far guys . peace
