ok mycofactory i still like ya, but the replacement bag also will not colonize.
thinking of trying some of mike's premade jars because i feel like mycobags just aren't reliable. i used the same spores for 3 bags and only one has worked. just a heads up to the members.

Ive had the same EXACT problem with mycobag. NO CONSISTENCY. Some work, some dont, SAME procedure for all. UNRELIABLE.

I had about 15 out of 30 work. AND GET THIS, out of the 15, 5 of them didnt germinate and colonize for 2-3 months!! I inocd all 30 bags, and a few germed right away, most did nothing at all. I left them around, out of anger, (didnt want to see or think about them), then one day, months down the road, I open the drawer, and see a quarter sized patch of healthy mycelium. Several others had it as well.

Several days later, those bags were colonized, then spawned, and grew great shrooms, no problem. Other than the fact that they were inocd in JULY, but didnt germ until SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER! Environmental conditions were consistent the whole time!

EXPLAIN THAT!!!! (I always get "you must have fucked up your sterile procedure" line, but if that was the case, how do you explain this situation?)

How does air exchange work with the myco bags? I've never tried one of there bag. I was thinking about it, but now maybe not. Perhaps I'll get one of the empty bags and put my own substrate in it.

My bags worked ok however they did take forever to fruit about 8 weeks after I had a few small pins ,mostly on the sides of the bags I cut the bags away and plkaced them im my chamber ala PFtek and they EXPLODED with pins /fruits so YES I think lack of air exchange IS a big factor with these bags

absolutely! i did the same exact procedure with all 3 bags, and it was the same syringe as well.
i knocked up this last bag on september 10th, now it's the 30th and no myc. it smells a bit like garbage as well. not good.
if my first bag hadn't worked i wouldn't believe the bags worked at all.

there is an air filter patch
i agree it's not the best idea to fruit in the bag. you can do it, but you get much better results cutting the bag away and fruiting as a cake in a terrarium.

Most mycobags seem to lack the proper moisture content. When I bought mine, they all seemed to contain a pretty dry brick of substrate. They either stalled or never germinated at all. The substrate should be moist and airy and most premade mycobags obviously aren't. I've started to get mine from a different vendor now and they are working like a charm!
