Buying a pressure cooker - need help!
    #4641087 - 09/10/05 07:20 AM (18 years, 7 months ago)

I have looked through a list of pressure cookers in a UK cataloger, however few of them list what pressure weights they use, if at all. Would a standard pressure cooker come with at least a 12lb weight?

Well, 15 is the ideal number but i think alot of people go overboard with there starilizing, but who am i to fuck with the ancient method, i have a presto 18 Qt. canner and it works like a charm, i can do 24 PF jars at once or 7 quart jars or Rye. it ran me 70 dollars but it was well worth it. did you know you can cook with these things too? LoL

All of the pressure cookers I have seen are only 15 pound. I believe that is the default pressure.

Shop at thrift stores before spending a lot of dollars or pounds or rubles. And get the biggest one you can find; it is worth the money for sure.

There is no "default" pressure. There are 5, 10, 12, 15 that I have seen. I have a mirro that is adjustable to 5, 10 or 15lb.

Depending on your ambitions, definitely get one as big as you can. I started with a presto 18 quart, which was nice, but outgrew it rather quickly. Think big,

and watch ebay. Some come with 10 pound weights.

Good Luck.

Thanks, I think,lol.

Better than having one of the others I've posted on here, lol.

I used it yesterday, amazing what I can get done in 7 hours now,

Was even able to get it on my stove, slid it over both burners on the right. Was even able to get my little 18 quart on there with it,

I'll have to glance at Mycotopia.

Have a great day. I get to go play with this now,

I'll have all those jars inoculated in about 20 minutes. Love those guns you can set the amount you want dispersed.

Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony.
