Charlie Horses

Today I was awoken by a delightful searing pain in my left leg.  I

honestly thought my leg was going to tear in half.  I don't get

charlie horses often, but when I do, they suck.  I didn't know what

to do to get rid of the pain so I just stretched my leg out and tried

not to scream.  Anyone else get charlie horses?  Is there a way to

prevent them?  Football players around here tell me to drink water

and eat potatoes.

don't do tennis players eat bananas to prevent them? charlie horses suck... especially when you wake up from them...

Stand up on them. That almost always gets rid of them (it has never failed for me). I find myself standing up in my bed at all hours of the morning more than one would think!




The first one I ever got almost made me scream in pain. I had no idea what it was, and I could barely walk the next day for about an hour. It actually occurred the day I went rock climbing the first time.

Sometimes when I'm jerking it I get a charlie horse in my calf.....man that sucks.

the only charlie horse i know of, is if somone punches you with their middle finger jutting out, on the thigh or forearm. lol

both hurt.

standing on your leg does work... but take vitamin E at nite or in the morning, or eat foods higher in Vitamin E..it helps with the muscles.

Same here!! Never had one while awake. Always at night, I find myself flying out of bed and hobbling around until it subsides. Those things suck balls!
I broke my leg in a snowmobile wreck about 28 years ago, and I get those suckers in that leg about 4 or 5 times a year. (which is 4 or 5 too many..)

Drinking water is the best prevention technique. I once had a soccer tournament after a night of drinking...bad idea. I got a charlie horse in one leg when i was at full spring, barely kept my balance, then the other leg goes. Fell flat on my face on a break away, all hungover, what a funny day.
