Xbox vs GameCube

I'm torn on wich one to get. The Xbox plays DVD's and has a hard drive and a faster processor but it costs more. The GameCube is 100$ cheaper, will have a modem, and games I know will be good, but it wont have the graphics of an Xbox. Does anyone have either of these? and which one do you think is better?

Nintendo always makes their games for little kids. Xbox is easily the better system, but you have to decide if its worth $100.

I don't own any consoles and never play on them (joypads somehow don't work for me at all) so I might be a bit biased here, but I would get the gamecube. Most of the games for the xbox will be pc-games, or come for the pc also. I bet you could get much better graphics from upgrading your cpu and graphics card on you computer than an xbox will give you. those were my 2 unqualified cents

the xbox is crap dont bother with it.... if you have a good comp thats all you need... xbox is a waste of money.... people will realize this but its too late its already a success. the game cube is for childrens games.... so if you like games with no violence and simplistic themes, go for it. pc games rock!!! haha im biased sorry. i owned a psx and a 64, they both pale in comparison to games on the computer.

Why do people think nintendo only makes "kids" games? I had a 64, and I don't think Turok was a kids game. Or Battle Tanks. Or Mortal Kombat. Or Doom. I think I'll probably get a GameCube though, the Xbox is only gonna have a highspeed ethernet connection, the GameCube will have that and a 56k modem. I can't use an ethernet connection out here in the sticks. Plus the $100 makes a diff. If anyone owns either of these, please tell me what it's like. I'm still kinda undecided.

You're wasting time with either one. Get a PS2 and be done with it! Look in your local classifieds to find a PS2. Found one in the paper the other day "PS2 w/ Gran Tourismo 2, unopened, $275"

>Nintendo always makes their games for little kids that's a rather silly thing to say, apperently you never heard of N64 with games like Golden eye Perfect Dark Conkers Quest (sponsered by playboy) >as well as being a second party game, rare is directly owned by nintendo. My friend owns a video store, so he has all the systems as he rents them out. X box is the most powerful, has the hard drive modem etc,.. and lots of potencial Game cube is just pure fun, it really is, no one can deny neintendo makes the most fun games PS2, is the system that will prob go the distance, with the cube in a close second. he advised me to go with ps2 maily because of metal gear, and sony has all the good 3rd party developers wrapped around their fingers. X-box is too costly, will never go down in price, and may not gain the fan base it needs for long life leading to revolutionary games. Even if it is the most powerful look what happened to 3DO. Cube or PS2 are the only sane choices

i agree. Zelda and Perfect Dark are great games and aren't so kiddy. I have to say i like the kids games like mario cart and mario golf though, but maybe because i'm a girl hehe

You can't judge any of these systems just yet. Graphics and hardware isn't what makes a good system. What makes a good system is good games! I'll wait till next summer/fall, and then I'll buy which one looks most apealing. If any at all. I have my eye on Gamecube though.

A few intelligent games yes. But nintendo has always marketed to the younger crowd. How many pokeman games have you played on playstation? You're on target with the rest of what you said. I think Microsoft has just as much clout, if not more, than Sony to make good games though. Also the price between PS2 and XBox is the same where I live, and I'm sure they will even out to compete in other markets. They always have in the past. Microsoft isn't quite like other companies that have dropped in on the console market. I think that all three are pretty sure bets that you will have good games untill the next system.

I really am not sure which one is going to be best. I played XBox at my cousin's house today, and it is great. There are not really too many good games out for it yet, but Halo is amazing. It just has so much better capabilities (a 10 gig hard drive, ethernet connection, etc.) But Gamecube also looks wonderful, as does PS2. It's going to have to come down to the games. I have to save up for a little bit to buy a new guitar, but I'll probably buy one of these consoles in a couple months, which will give me a chance to see which one comes out with better games. If I had to pick now, I'd say XBox. It's coming out with Grand Theft Auto 2, and Metal Gear Solid 2, which Gamecube won't.

i was also thinking about what would be the best system to get and out of the gamecube, x box, and ps2 I'm leaning towards the ps2 but I haven't fullt commited. I think x box is gonna be way to much like a comp with most of its games available for the comp and i don't like microsoft. game cube will probably mostly be kiddy games and i think the ps2 while not having the best graphics out of the systems will still look good, can play dvds, and will have the better games, plus it plays ps1 games and you can get a mod chip and copy the games from blockbuster instead of spending money on them.

I can sum up my stance on the issue pretty quick: my younger brother has been talking about getting a new console since the summer (and he was heavily leaning towards a ps2). From the beginning, I bitched at him, telling him xbox was the only way to go (SO much more powerful, afterall). He bought a ps2 this past weekend. I'm not bitching anymore. PS2 maynot have as great of graphics (but they are still mindblowing), but the gameplay and the games are just badass (Devil May Cry, GTA3, GT3, Time Crisis II, Half Life...)

If the choice were up to me I would go with the xbox because it has the best graphics, and some really cool games, while the gamecube has some cool games and ok graphics, I can't really answer your question though, are you looking for the best graphics or best games? I think the best selection for you would be the ps2 because they have tons of games and really good graphics (almost as good as the xbox) and plus it has a dvd player. Well I hope I helped you out ~Later
