I'm going for my first grow here soon. Using the PF-Tek. Hard as hell to find Vermiculite in my area. Ordering it is a last resort for me. Are there any suitable alternatives?
Also, I've noticed a couple of teks using Tyvek Filters. Where the fuck do you get those?! They're Cool.

If you have : Kmart, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, a gardening/ floral shop, then you have access to verm. You are able to use perlite but it does not soak water up(one of the main purposes of the verm), so i would not recommend anything other than verm in a PF Cake.
Tyvek can be found lots of places. FedEx envelopes are made of this material and the envelopes are free.

In my experience, verm is available at most garden stores. I'm not sure which country you are in but if you are in the US, you can order the USPS envelopes. They are made of tyvek.

To be honest, in my experience verm is damn impossible to find. Everyone is worried about it's dust...
Yo many nursery's usually have em...those people are more like farmers than the panzy working behind the county...they aint askeared to grab a big 'ol sack of verm. YA BABY

Vermiculite is an impossibilty. urgh. I have been to 4 different walmarts, 2 home depots, 3 targets and a K-mart. No one has that stuff! ugh. I guess I'll just mail order it.
Mason jars are hard to find too.
btw I'm in central florida.

at lowes and home depot they do not carry the small bags... just the 22lbs bags usually located in the back of the garden center.. a lot of the times the employees are useless... so if they say they dun have it... look anyways. i picked one up in sw fl for about 10 bones... it'll last me all year and into the next

I just bought verm at lowes yesterday, walmart was moving shit around to get ready for Halloween, so their garden stuff was a mess, a small bag was around $3.00.
