Lothl?rien
    #4635258 - 09/08/05 07:26 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

hey guys... here is a description of lothl?rien by jrr tolkien... it's frodo's view of the country in lotr when the fellowship enters the elvish wood and finally get their blindfolds taken off... i'm just reading this book for the 5th time and i always found it is extremely psychedelic... but this description of lothl?rien just hit the feeling i had when shrooms hit me the first time (and every next time, too) so perfectly, i just had to share it with you guys

Quote:

"[...]It seemed to him (Frodo) that he had stepped through a high window that looked on a vanished world. A light was upon it for which his language had no name. All that he saw was shapely, but the shapes seemed at once clear cut, as if they had been first conceived and drawn at the uncovering of his eyes, and ancient as if they had endured forever. He saw no colour but those he knew, gold and white and blue and green, but they were fresh and poignant, as if he had at that moment first perceived them and made for them names new and wonderful.[...]"

Once you get done with those, hit the hobbit, then silmarilion. If you can handle more, the book of lost tales 1 & 2 are both worth checking out.

I've always said that tolkien was tripping on something when he wrote those books. Every time I re-read them I find new and interesting stuff!

Have you read the Simillarion (sp) the best book of them all !!!!!!!

It is a bit like reading a crazy version of the bible, but it is worth it if you can get in the right state of mind. Lots and lots of crazy shit going down.
