colonized WBS (pic)
    #4637547 - 09/09/05 01:10 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

I can't seem to get my jars 100% wite through and through.

It always gets very close, leaving some very small yellow (corn?) pieces that dont turn white.

These jars have been like this for about a week and should have been completely finished by now.

Is this ok/normal to use as spawn if they look like this?  Should I keep waiting it out and hope it turns more white?

BTW- this is Bird Basic WBS. if that helps any

I am trying to spawn with two other jars that were similar to this.  So far they have not contaminated, but it is taking forever for the spawn to rip through the poo.  --- On a couple of weeks now.

Thanks,
CLUTCH

Yep, mine never get completely covered either. Some grains may be dry. That myc is thick, healthy and ready to go!

:happybday:  More shrooms for you!

thanks foo and plutonium.

well, I wasn't sure. I always see pics of pure white mycelium, and it is hard to tell sometimes whether or not it is their camera flash or if they have actual completely white jars.

as an example, check out these pictures side by side-

Would you believe these are the same jars taken at the same time. One was with a flash, the other one was with room lights on. I picked the one on the right to post because it looks the most like the jars in real life.

So guess I'm good to go according to the pics on the left eh? So I thinking about using a higer rate of spawn to the poo this time to keep the spawn run time shorter perhaps. I'm thiking closer to 50/50.

I've done rye. Had the same problem actually.

I've also used a mixture of rye and WBS.
