Temperature at which spores die???

I know I read somewhere that spores will die at a certain temperature, I am tryin rye grain after a year of brown rice/quinoa casings and I made an incubator this time as well instead of just a warm room, my incubator got up to 35 degrees celcious on the first day after inoculation (dumbass room mate left the heat lamp on in the room) now that 35 is an estimate as it's off a 4 dollar thermo (dropped my good one while building the incubator grrr)

Anyway at most it was 40 degrees celcious if it was that high, that's about 105 F Thanks for you help guys, I'm using an EQ strain if that helps.

I want a for sure answer, not a maybe. Thanks.

i was wondering the same exact thing! thanks for posting so i didnt have to lol. i need to up my incubator temp, the myc is just crawling. not growin fast at all.

The mycelium is said to die at 106F, the spores will be higher, I have not seen the figure.

Myc dies at 106 I believe. I hear spores die at 106f but have a very hard time believing it. Seems to me if that were the case Texas, Mexico, and many places in South America, Africa, and India wouldn't have so many shrooms in such a large amount considering all the spores would be dying off in the summer.  :eek: :crazy2: :mushroom2: :grin: :tongue: :evil: :wink:

Spores begin to degrade rapidly at 106... but will not "die" until 156

Much misinformation is out there about this. FYI thermo death limits for mycelium begins at 106F, limits for spores is 122F (50 C). This is where death begins and duration has the biggest factor.
