Got Laughter?
    #4635057 - 09/08/05 08:28 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I LOVE to laugh!

Whether it's silly Jim Carrey making faces, or my kids telling jokes, or punning until everyone groans, laughing feels so good!

I have read that people who laugh more live longer, get fewer colds, and have more fun!

What better way to reconnect with the joyfulness within, to connect with others, to loosen the tension which holds us in a stranglehold?

What makes you laugh?  Have you laughed today?  If not, why not?

New York is where I'd rather stay. I get allergic smelling hay. I just adore a penthouse view. Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue.

I haven't laughed hard in probably 7 years.  I chuckle, that's about

it.  I never liked talking much, and laughing goes along with it as I

see it.  I don't smile much either, people say.  Oh well.

I have heard that patients with all sorts of illnesses have shown improvement after watching nothing but comedy tapes and laughing a lot.

My laughter's mostly of the fake type. I do actually laugh if something is absurd enough, but most events are just semi-absurd.

"I had a friend, a very fat friend, and he was a theological student. He used to take the elevated train that went from Evanston into Chicago and sit in the middle of the car where everybody could see him. He would sit there with a kind of vacant look and chuckle to himself. And slowly he'd work it out, laughing louder and louder with all his flesh vibrating. By the time they got to Chicago, the whole car was inevitably hysterical with laughter."
- Alan Watts in Still the Mind

I love the one where they are in the grocery store:

"Nice melons!"
"Hey!!"
"Honey, I'm holding melons!"
"Oh, OK"

"Nice jugs!"
"Hey!!"
"Honey, I'm holding jugs!"
"Oh, OK"

"Nice hooters!"
"All right now, that's it!!"
"Honey, I'm holding hooters!" (She has an owl on each shoulder.)

That one makes me snort every time I watch it.

Hehe thanks alot man...can't take credit for it though, it was in a book by Ram Dass. It's brilliantly worded and written regardless!
