Substrate conservation?

My problem is the following: I don't have a very sophisticated grow system set up and I thus cannot leave the installment out of sight for a week that I will be leaving town for...
Anyone know what would be the best way to preserve or store substrate that has been cased before for a couple of days? Does it require refrigeration or will that in turn harm the mycel? Any ideal way to go about this?

this is not advanced...

refridgeration will be fine. Just be sure to cover with plastic wrap because the fridge has lost of nasties floating around...
