Time to do it again....

It is because freedom is the overiding agenda of my country. Even with all of the laws and useless bullshit we still enjoy greater levels of freedom than nearly (I did say nearly) anywhere.

because the best way to enslave people is to convince them they are free.

Because the US is an individualistic country to a large extent, and personal independence and freedom are common themes for mostly all Americans.

Sadly, the politicians try to restrict both of them, but the culture is still nevertheless very individual and freedom orientated.

Well I wouldn't say that. that is propaganda that has been served to US citizens for a long time. But in truth US is maybe a land of the free by some 1899 standards.

Sadly it appears that freedom was the overiding agenda of your country.

and in what way are you free? are you free to take out a library book without the government knowing about it? are you free from unwarranted wiretaps on your phone and internet connection? are you free to do honest scientific research without risking losing your funding? are you free knowing that all your possessions can be seized on suspicion that you bought them with the proceeds of crime?

Are you free to take a chemical into your body because your body and mind belong to you? You make me laugh.

are you free to take substances whose only fault is to induce an altered state of consciousness?

hey wait, I've heard somewhere that these substances remove barriers in your mind and you can actually surpass culture/social/politically imposed patterns of thought, think things for yourself, in a few words: the mind become free!

(hey man, that's too dangerous, can you imagine people actually thinking for themselves, not following mass media imposed opinions / distorted / sensationalist world views?) ban! ban! ban! arrest! lie! cheat! destroy!

where's freedom???

cool cool. it does go against convention and will lead to more "you talking to me" type replies but hey, if that doesn't bother you then more power to you.
