Ziplock Tek

Hey guys i just found the MOST INTERESTING Tek YET! This is another low cost yet seamingly very working Tek! Here it goes its from Thenook
Supplies: pf cakes done as usual 2 gallon ziplock bags 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch mini loaf tins iodine tincture or betadine perlite vermiculite You put two or three hanfulls of moist perlite in the bottom of the ziploc, add a dash of iodine and mix Put 3/4 inches of moist vermiculite in the bottom of the loaf tin. Put 2 pf cakes in the tin, fresh from a dunk, or lately I have been cutting the cakes into thirds to make sort of a fat wafer or puck. I put two or three of these in one tin. Cover the tops of the cakes or pucks with dry vermiculite and then water the tops to wet the vermiculite. Cut a small hole in the ziplock just above the edge of the tin and either leave it open or stuff some polyfill or gauze or something into the hole. Put the tin into the new terrarium. I fan a couple of times a day, but I bet you dont need to. Line these little mini modular terrariums up on a shelf and grow a crop yourself.
What do u guys think? Work for casings? Would it b better in my heated incubater?

Damn thatd be great for a bunch of little poop trays. I may just have to give it a try. You could let em colonize in there, then let them grow in there as well.

Wait, just looked back over it. I thought this was done with baby-little casings. Wouldn't it work with casings?

I think casings would work if u left the bag open a bit so the moisture will b a bit lower. But with cakes leaving this bag in the incubater would not create perfect Fruiting conditions? Seeing as it would b a steady 75 degrees or w/e plus about 95% moisture.. right?

THis tec should work great for both cakes and casings.... I've cased in cups with decent results, using a baggieand rubber band, forming "soft dome" (not trying to take credit cause it's not my tec). With the cups i don't fan, myst or anything, case cover and grow untill ready to harvest

Why would it work better in an incubator? Its for fruiting right? You dont fruit in an incubator..

I agree, but if your trying to use it for casing then you can case in your zip lock and put it in your incubator until your see myc growth on the surface then remove it and put it back how you have it. As for your fruiting of cakes your incubator will be too warm.

Well that could be a problem there. I'd recomend making another chamber for fruiting or atleat put them all in one place that you can get a little warmer than you have it.

See you cant call it an intibator anymore if your lowering the temp. then its called a fruiting chamber

Thats exactly what I'm trying to say. An INCUBATOR, incubates, and so needs to be kept higher to stil be an incubator. Of course you could use a tub in tub as a fruiting chamber, and have it heated to 75, but then you are not fruiting in an incubator, you are heating your fruiting chamber to 75. However, if your living in a house thats only 5 degrees celcius inside, I think you'll have a few other problems to worry about...and you didnt mention would it work better in a tub in tub in a few months, or when winter comes..right now it is not that cold and right now (which is when you made it sound like your grow was happening, right now) you would not need to heat your fruiting chamber.
