ECS is pretty good I'd say. I have one at home, no trouble with it except that the board I bought first didn't recognize one of my 512 sticks so I had to go back and get a new one, other than that, it's been running perfectly!

nice so would it be better to get four 1gb sticks or 4 dual channle 512mb sticks as i dont belive any one makes or sells 1gb dual channle sticks. and should i get SLI type? I think thats when you get two 16x pci-e slots so that you can run two video cards at once or is one just fine

I've had two ECS boards die on me, both K7S5A.....this is an older model and perhaps the one you are looking at is ok, I would read reviews for the exact model number you are thinking of getting.
With my last build, I decided to get more than what I was looking for, and spent an extra 40 bucks or so. This MSI motherboard has all the features that I'm going to need in the next 2 years, and was definitly worth spending the extra cash. You're going to save money in the long run by getting quality hardware. Going with a 'good' motherboard manufacturer is gonna save you more in the long run. Asus, MSI, Abit, Soyo, and others have all proven themselves over time to be the leaders of the industry, and not for nothing. Think about 3 years from now when you'd like to build a new machine, you can take your old components and build a second machine with it(it's quite awesome having two pc's at your desk), you can't recycle parts if they've failed early due to inferior components. Not to say that low-end mobo makers use cheap parts, but it's kinda common..

I had a K7VZA that died on me. Well I'm not sure if it actually died ... but bits of the plastic on the connection from the PSU to the mobo were melted. I still am not sure how it happened. I'm sure it isn't the mobo's fault, and the mobo also lived a nice life of 3-4 years before this happened. I might be able to dig up some pice just to share ....
(sorry about off topicness)

I've got a dated K73VTA that I've been running now for about 3 years. It's been a pretty good MoBo so far.....
