What's the best way to let go?
    #4630608 - 09/07/05 03:56 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I know that if you don't let go on higher dose mushroom trips you will wig out. I know theres a lot of little mantras, sayings, thoughts... let go, ride the wave, its just a drug.. i've heard too many in fact that I can't really remember one specific method.
Could you perhaps describe (if you can..) your favorite method to 'let go'?
Thanks

Not only just a phrase too.. but if you have some other physical technique that helps.

Nitrous helps you get out there...

I've heard people say "music.. blah blah....doesn't sound good... blah blah"

But music is great for me.. (ie: jimi hendrix is the stuff that just sends you out there, like that scene from Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, where cheech is playing that heavy guitar solo and every one is covering their ears, but cheech is in there with that :drooling: look on his face)

My experience is that holding on to ego is a problem with lower doses of LSD/Psilocybin. I myself have never had a problem with a higher dose, theres now way I could hold on to ego. Of course YMMV. Is there a specific problem?

Nope. I just havent had a high enough dose of shrooms yet where I would need to do that, and i wanted some *specific* tips.. preferrably memorable ones that wont get forgotton, before i do it. Maybe a single phrase/technique i can repeat so i wont forget. If i engrain it in my mind now, maybe when the time comes (soon i hope) it will flow easier.

I think at high doses the big difficulty would be trying to control your mind from barreling down negative thought paths. For me "letting go" to the Void and oneness seems much easier than keeping the mind afloat in positive things. With shrooms my thoughts, rather than feelings of dissasociation and ego loss seem to be the problem.

For me the come up on Psilocybin is always the roughest part without fail. Ive always found that busy hands and/or busy feet are my best friends. I just try to keep my mind off of the fleeting chaos inside until it passes and I can sit back and enjoy. Sorry I cant be of more help.

It isn't a physical thing at all. You have to the "tripper's" mentality.
Some people just have that natural "ready for anything" disposition, and that is what you need to acquire before you can be perfectly confident about high doses.
The way that I know that i have this mentality is that i can honestly say to myself, "I'm about to go insane, lose touch with consistent reality, and have some potentially disturbing visions, And I'm perfectly ok with that."
That's all that I can really say to help you. These kinds of things should be personal, and left to be discovered by one's self. In many cultures, helping you at all to achieve your goal would be a sin.

Good Luck.

Yes, you definitely have to be able to say that to yourself and MEAN IT to be "prepared" for a high dose.

That's a good point about it being a sin, i suppose thats true. I never thought about that before.
And the truth is, i can say that to myself right now.. and i could assume im ok with it.. i mean i feel like i would be perfectly fine with that. But i cant REALLY know because ive never epxerienced it :p

The first time I tried shrooms, I was really nervous at first. I was really enjoying the trip, but as it got more intense I started to panic and fight for control. Needless to say, I wigged out bad. The second time I tried them, the same thing started to happen. This time, though, I just let the trip take over without any resistance, and it resulted in a lifechanging experience.

I'm generally a very fearful person and like a predictable, repetitive reality. Psychedelics are helping me to overcome my fears and insecurities. The only way you are going to let go and enjoy the mushroom is to swallow the damn things and deal with it. Yeah, there may be some scary parts- experiencing that language, time and diversified reality are illusions is not easy- but experiencing that is very rewarding and empowering. All you can do is swallow and hope for the best, take the bad with the good etc.

why dont you ask the mushroom how to let go? ayahuasca taught me, but i dont see any reason why the mushroom wont teach you if you just ask.

there are several ways to let go.. lay down close your eyes and just chill. my preferred way is to draw. after 5 minutes of doodling i start to forget where i am, a strange language forms in front of me as i trace it's passing image i feel no need to fight. you may discover more about yourself then you thought afterwords.
meditating can help too.

ignore your thoughts...think of them as just more noise...There arent really any specifics on how to do this...you just have to keep a positive mood and generally, you won't even care about letting go.
Go into the trip WANTING to trip and not wanting the experience to end; go into it like you would any positive experience. Keep it ingrained that the trip will end and that you should try to enjoy every last bit of it before that happens.
Confidence and positivity can be everything.
