Where did the truffles go?

After receiving a innocculated jar of psi. mexicana my friend harvested the truffles, and used the mycelium to innoccculate a couple of pf jars.
However no new sclerotia formed, although there was tons of mycelium, almost 100%. The jars were kept in the dark at around 70 degrees, for 12 weeks, no contam noted. Any ideas?
Cheers guys.....

yeah
I'm 99% sure I know why this happened.
I'm going to wait and see if someone else can answer it first... before answering it.

The pf jar that they inoculated didnt contain the same material substrate as the company that sent it to her. And if you they used brf That is unacceptable for this species

You would have been better off cloning a section of sclerotia to an LC, that will give you a strain guaranteed to produce sclerotia. Perhaps the myc that had no sclerotia, never would have, like some isolates of cubensis will never fruit. I was wondering if the spent harvested grain from sclerotia could be used as spawn. Mycofile has been talking about over incubated grain leading to higher potency fruits. Your results are now putting me off.
I think the verm/BRF substrate should work well, but your sclerotia will be intertwined with the sclerotia giving you the glitter shits

pretty much my thoughts on the subject.

Brown rice is noted as a recommended substrate for mexicana. Verm is not due to it being trapped, but on another site I see it recommended due to its moisture content. Is that the only reason you saw Roadkill?
Oakbear- do you know what the original substrate was,

Cheers guys!
Original substrate looked like rye berries.
Half was spawned to brf with verm (pf style), and half to wbs. Neither grew sclerotia.
Is it worth trying to fruit these though, as the mycelium looks real good. Should work?

Better than tossing out. You will need to case mexicana. Look for some mexicana growlogs. I think you may need to spawn to straw for best results.
I still do not agree that the change in substrate was the reason. People use grain as spawn, tranfer to a different substrate and get good sclerotia growth in the casing layer.
