Quart Jars

For my previous grows I have always used pint size jars and haven't had a problem.
By looking at the quart jars though, I have one question:


As you can see the neck of the jar curves in...did anyone in the past find it difficult to get the colonized cake to come out?

I haven't done WBS yet, but I'm sure a rye cake would be kind of hard to get out.

You will definitely have a problem getting the cake out of those. If it was for casing, then no prob. Grains, awesome. LC, fucking A. But cakes, HELL NO!.

use a clean spoon or soemthing to break up the grain. you'll be crumbling it into a caseing container anyway so this wont hurt it.

hi..bro

You shouldn't use Quart size jars for BRF/Verm pf style cakes...

odds are they will stall or just plain take forever to colonize.


Quarts are best used for Rye grain, WBS, Millet, Popcorn...etc.

And you spoon the substrate out of the container after they are fully colonized.

By cakes I mean grain, and I know this is a silly question..but during my previous grows I used pint jars. I just bang out the rye, and crumble it up in a ziploc. So I guess I can scoop it out..but I prefer it when I can get the substrate out with a hit or two to the bottom of the jar...:cool:

..I feel silly :blush:
