"Water pipe" water temp

Hey everyone, recently i started wondering about wether or not hot or cold water matters when hitting a...uh....water pipe...
anyways, Ive got a regular glass on glass with a ash-catcher...normally i like to keep the ash-catcher water as warm, if not as hot, as possible, then have some room temp water in the regular chamber, and ice in the ice catcher. does anyone know if it would be better (aka smoother) if I were to use the same temp water in both, cold in the ash catcher and warm in the water-pipe, ect....
just chime in with your setups and thoughts...pc

Yeah ice water is really the best. Though there was a post about a month back about using boiling water to filter the smoke...apparently the steam mixed with the smoke to create an almost soothing effect...never tried it myself though.

well my question is then, what about using really really hot water for the ice catcher, then cold water and ice in the regular bong?

room temp or slightly cold has always been my prefrence.. u don't want ice cold cuz that makes the active chemical solidify in the vapor and makes it harder for ur lungs to absorb it.. . warm/hot water is just nuts.. . try adding some strawberry koolade. and not change the water out till it looks like blood >:D

If you have a bong with two water chambers, a combination of really hot water in the first and really cold in the second seems to work great!
My theory is that hot water disolves tar better than cold water, while cold water cools the smoke to make it easier to toke. I built a giant one a few years ago called the "death star". With hot in the first and cold in the second, one person could take a whole bowl in one toke without feeling much at all, but they'd let a LOT of smoke out. I found this somewhere on the net:
Mine didn't have an air pump, though

I once tried it withs somw warm water and it didn't do it for me. On the other hand i puffed a giant giant bowl with a friend in college once before some shit class and put actual ice in with the water (i have a hard time putting my glass in the fridge, something about having it extremely cold and then putting a flame on it doesn't sit well with me) to cool it down, and that worked extremly well. The weed was shit, but it didn't hurt nearly at all!

I've had some good experiences with hot water, it really can be soothing on your lungs.
I usually prefer cold though, and a double perk with ice water in both is amazing how smooth that smoke is.

I've done bonghits - waterfalls actually with boiling hot water. Those are fucking intense. Steamy bong hits are not for the uninitiated.
