No kiddin... Just harvested my little baby... jus a tiny lowryderxsomething... Got 7g's of fairly potent bud... Wonder how, as I was only using 80W (the bulb rating, so its actually less) plant-flourescents. Wish I had that goin on.

poison ivy makes your skin swell, blister and rash up. this in turn itches and burns.
residue can stay on your clothes and transfer to your skin or that of others for years (if the clotes are unwashed)

I take it those are flourescents? I'm planning to set up a grow inside using flourescents so I'm curious about specifics...like do u need a plant fourescent?(I saw someone mention using an 80watt plant fourescent for growing bud the other day) also do u have to keep the light close to the plants at all times?(I read this in a guide a while back)...thats really all I'm curious about right now your help will be greatly appreciated

you want as much light as possible. floros are great for starting seeds for outdoors.
but the big boys are what you want for cloning and indoor grows.

i can send you a cutting, ive grown them twoce before, once they florished, another time they just died, but not before dropping leaves on my sofa, and came in contact with my bare genitilia causing me to think i got an STD.
i immagine just a peice of vine with a root and a bud should be enough to start a plant.

what you planning on having it for?

only trichomes will tell, but realistically i would say 2-3 weeks left before it starts frosting here ideally 4 more weeks would make a good finish

no, i pick when they are ready, OR when its too cold for them to live, whichever comes first.
the tiny hairs have little bubbles at the tips, these are trichomes.
they have clear fluid that becomes cloudy torawds mautrity.
fully mature trichomes are amber. as newer growth occurs, old growth matures, when the rate of new growth slows, the maturity catches up to the young stuff, and when 50% or more of trichomes are amber, then its ready to cure.
curing is easy. people make it complicated and do it wrong.
first, god sakes dont dry the weed. yuck! dry weed! all that work for choke-podwer.
personally i simply hang it in my dank basement. its about 60-75% humidity, so the plants slowly die, pulling life from the plant into the reproductive parts, making the plant sticky, and sweet. it doesnt quite dry, it stays dank, but not at all wet, and very smokable.
once cured (large plants take a week or two, average plants take only a few days) i remove bud and pack it into jars for freezing untill needed. properly cured pot does not "freeze" it just sits very cold.
leaf and other material can be frozen and put to icewater for hard mixing, and micron filtering. the cold breaks the trichomes, then they float in the water and can be filtered out. you can get bubble hash screens at most headshops. they can get expensive, but are WELL worth it if youre growing alot of plants.
i am not growing alot of plants, i have like 2, and only half of it is mine
luckily i smoke weed maybe a couple times a month. i can make this small ammount stretch a while if i budget it.
next year im going to use the same sweet spot and a few others i found to grow enough to last the year comfortably.
might even get a screen kit.
mmmmmmmmmmmmm, hash! you know what i mean!

ya man I"m growing a lot next year as well...I wanna get an indoor setup going(nothing too complex at first tho) and I'd like to have clones for next season(not sure if this is a realistic amount of time or not to get a good female) if not I'll just buy the clones again...they are readily available at planting time cause this area is known for outdoor growing(good soil, good climate and lots of places to grow)
EDIT: oh and just outta curiousity how do u go about curing? I was planning to use jars(seems like the most common method)

I've always referred to what you do in the basement as drying. Curing is then putting the dried buds into jars to sweat out the remaining 3-5% moisture and improve the flavors and enhance the cannabanoid profile. Do your buds have any grassy taste since they go straight to the freezer with no jar time?

hmmm, that how you do it? your stuff must get pretty dry.
its only "drying" when you hang them in a dry place to dry,
i hang in a dark humid place to let them die slowly, pulling out all the sugars into the tips. sugars keep it preserved.
at least thats what ive been told, correct me if this is a flawed meathod.
i find it works so good tho. and i like the taste of what i get. i like it when it feels fresh, but still burns even.

Nah, not dry, I can pretty well control the moisture. The humidity stays at about 70% with periodic drops and stuff dries in ~4 days. This is buds hanging upside down on their stalks...I consider it dead when I cut it off the plant base, but I see what you're saying.
Put it in the jar while its a little moist when you squeeze and put it in a dark place. For the first couple of days, open up your jars and check the moisture. Lay them out to dry more if they are too moist. After a few days of "sweating" them like this, they'll be at a comfortable moisture level to jar them up in complete darkness with no worries of mold. This is the method I've read is the most efficient (books, overgrow, etc), and at about 4-6 months, the chlorophyll will be broken down into more palatable compounds, and your buds will be smoother. The cannabanoid profile will also change a bit for the better.
Some of the best bud I've smoked was done exactly as you do it, so I don't doubt its great Different methods but good results from both.

I read on overgrow that there is a precursor to thc(which is inactive on its own) that is converted to thc during curing making the weed more potent..I take it thats the profile change your talking about

There are many chemical processes going on with cannabanoids during the cure other than Delta-9-THC. Some of it is degradation for the worst (the more psychedelic THCs seem to become more laid back), but overall your bud will improve. Not markedly in potency, but it will be more enjoyable than fresh off the dried brach imo.
This bud was cured for ~5 years. It was harvested about a week premature with about 70%milky trichs. After 5 years, the trichs were golden/red under a 30x loupe. After about a year I would say, the chems start degrading more rapidly and it becomes more like hash, very narcotic. 4-12 months is prime smoking But longer periods are worth trying, because even after 5 years this bud kicked my ass

getting mighty excited hers some shots of the cone-shaped plant with the monster thick buds. the lower brances are shoulder to shoulder golf-ball lumps of bud, white haired and dense. the main cola is just a mess of hairs and trichomes. as you dgo down into the plant its clumpy white bud balls.

plant 2 started flowering 2 weeks later than the above plant. tho it seems she caught right up and may in fact out yeild the other. the has reachy spear-like colas that are simply breathtaking even the low branches have good yeilds on them. a little more sticky looking than the other plant, pistols have a slight purple vein running down the middle.

im thinking harvest time in a week, 2 weeks tops all visable trichomes are cloudy, not too many ambers, but evrything seems to be ripening at the same rate.

I"m amazed at how similar everything about our grows were...even your buds look just like mine

so far I've only picked 1 plant and some stalks that blew down from the weight of the bud + a wind storm the other night...would u recommend I pick the rest now and avoid going through a frost?(not sure if a frost will cause any damage) or wait till it matures more?(I'd prefer to leave it another week or so but only if it can survive a frost without a huge amont of potency loss)
as for your mids question...I have no idea...my buds look exactly the same yet 3 hits off a joint completely messed me up for hours(and I'm still feeling it) VERY cerebral...maybe the best high from weed I"ve ever had...so if these are mids then I've been missin out(and I doubt that considering the amount of weed in this area)

ok, i was cutting and pasting all i posted, letter for letter. im on my 3rd keyboard this week, my comp seems to eat them, it must be a power thing. ive had to buy USB adaptors, large to small p2p adaptors, and new boards etc, just to type. such a pain in the ass. i cant even check my e-mail withought cutting and pasting my paswrd letter for letter.
i bought this second hand board for a dollar and its REALLY nice, old school, heavey duity.
anywho, last night when we were manicuring, the smell permiated the whole building, we could herar the upstaris neighbor through the floor complaining of a smell, thinking it was an electrical fire or something, she was all panicking and talking to her sons about calling the fire dept. to check out the circut breaker (the room we were working in) so i mad dashed upstairs and told her what was up and apoligized.
anywho fast-forward an hour, were done manicuring, took some pics, and its getting cold so I flicked on the furnace.
ALL THE ODOR GETS CYCLED THROUGH THE BUILDING.
we get a phone call from the lady upstaris, she and her sons are convinced were smoking pot in the furnace. she says shes getting a headache from the smoke.
but theres no smoke, its just the heavy dank miasma of fresh harvest.
i was loving it, but we had to package it up in a crate (shown in pic) double bag over it, and pop it out in the trunk to go to my buddies house for hanging.
my wife wasnt too mad, ive done this before, but the smell diddnt fill the building like this, she actually congradulated me, saying it was probably just because i did such a good job growing them.
my wife BTW is totally two sided about pot.
she thinks it should be legalized, but thinks people are bad who do/grow it because its "illegal"
and I just can't argue reason with her.

a couple shots of one of my stalks thats almost dry...hows that trichome content look to u guys? to me it seems loaded but being my first grow my judgement could be clouded(one things for sure tho this weed is EXTREMELY potent...at least compared to most weed I've had in the past) all I did for these plants was water fertilize(my buddy put on some of the lil ball type of fertilizer...not sure what was in it but hes experienced with plants(not weed tho) and said the ground there needed it...I'm glad he put it down it worked out real good...I also put miracle grow every 1-2 weeks and then switched to miracle grow ultra bloom when the plants started buddin...I didn't even work up the ground...oh and I put some straw around the plants as well(it wasn't cut up tho so I don't know how much benefit I actually got from it...I was just finishing off the last of a bale)...anyways heres the pics lemme know what u think of the trichome content
EDIT: oh and btw mitchnast...just lemme know if you'd rather I didn't post my pics in your thread...don't wanna step on your toes I just think it makes for a better thread to have multiple ppl posting pics(like the double tub thread in the grow log section from a while ago) plus our grows looked really similar so it fits

i just took a bag of soil, mixed in a few cups of lime, and added what i had of some leftover compost from my garden, and a healthy dose of verm for aeration.
took the clonelings (a few inches tall and sick) out to a peat bod part of a swamp, found a site where the grasses formed a peat island (i beleive its called muskeg) i chopped a hole in the peat and filled it with the soil mix. peat is acidic, so 5the lime was important.
i never watered these, even during the long dry summer, the moisture of the peat bog was all they needed, as the weatehr dried, the waterlevel dropped and the plants florished, the weather became wetter as the growing season ended, giving it that one last boost of nutrients fresh from the swamp muck.
swamp much is GOOD growing stuff. you can tell because if you step in a muckhole, your foot comes up stinking like shit.
its vital to plant high and use aerators in this habitat to compensate for occasional flooding, and the anaerobic nature of swamp muck.
also, i planted alongside a brackish river, and the plants were started in early july.

great job mitchnast
harvest day for my widow turned out smelly too ... the plant had only the slightest smell as she was growing, more of just a general plant smell ... but when i cut her, the house REEKED straight through for a few days as i was manicuring and readying her to cure ...
but oh man ... the scissor hash that you can get on manicure day is obsessively tasty ... i miss my grow and hope i can start another soon, just gotta find me a new place ...

i had some tonight, a little wet, but worked in a joint. worked even better in glass pipe.
VERY cerebral, not very narcotic at all, i was totally up, but it was intence. we were laughing and losing ourselves in an intelligent stupor.
after that we went walking and got picked up by some friends, me and buddy were in the backseat laughing and joking crazy scenarios. we drove out to the country and stopped at a closed convenience store, we went inside and took pics of ourselves loading our jackets with cans of tobacco, i would post them but i dont want to incriminate my friends...
oh what the hell. i will crystalize out the faces.

we were all pretty stoned, i think i was doing the crazy arms walk.

its so much better when its your own, theres pride my friend. magic even.
when you smoke something you bought, thats your money, your loss. and its only a means to an end, the goal is the high.
when you got something that grew from your care, you love evry bit. and sharing feels even better. showing someone what weed is supposed to be like, smooth and clean from the swamp, instead of gaggy harsh hydro and fetilizer weed.
the bud is so spongy and sticky to the touch. i tried rolling some joints, but the paper kept sticking to my hands .
the pipe was better, gotta love glass pipes. it was smooth, not a hint of harsh, and as soon as my lumg was full i could feel a wave to my brain of goodness, then another puf made my bend over backwards, arms out, cracking my back over the chair into blissful tingling hilarity.
no crash at all, im down now but im not burnt, tho i could sleep easily, i feel sated. i cant wait till its done drying and i can take it home in a jar and freeze it. i just love freezer fresh cured bud
