Wet Spot; Sour Rot - Bacillus sp. question

hey all, i ordered 2 wbs presterilized jars, and inoculated each of them with spores from a clean syringe... one immediately showed signs of bacillus sp. and the other startedwith healthy mycellenium, but later is now showing signs of basillus sp... my question is, is it possible that this could be the syringes/spores? I had 2 different strains, and were very sterile.... or could it be the jars? I just find it weird that both contam'd the same way.

What do you mean by "very sterile"? how do you know this?
The syringes and jars could be both perfectly fine, you could also have introduced contams during inoculation, eg dirty needle. Did the jars have self healing holes?

If the filter material gets wet, it will lead to wetspot contamination nearly every time. Whatever filter material is used, it must stay bone dry to be effective. RR

hmm, well the jars were bought online, its possible it could have been the needles, it seems a polyfil material was used on the jars for inoculation...
thanks for the suggestions guys, i'm going to try again tomorrow.

Sounds like poor sterilization to me... to test that just put in uninoculated "sterile" substrate jars with the ones you inoculate to see if they contam as well.
