Martha type set up
    #4622841 - 09/05/05 04:22 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So i am building a ghetto martha set up and the plastic on the outside does not quite reach all the way down to the ground, does the martha need to be pretty sealed up or is some opening at the bottom going to be ok, if it helps i plan on using an ultra sonic and cool mist for the humidity

As long as the temp/humidity is good you should be fine.

with the bottom open it's gonna be pretty damn hard to control rh at a high enough level... get a tarp or something and seal the bottom up

Those clear plastic (thin cheapo) painting dropclothes are pretty easy to work with cause they are flexible and anything including hot glue or silicone can adhere that material to the pvc or metal frame.  If you can cut a piece to fit the bottom of your martha and overlap it to the existing plastic and seal it up decent with a good silicone (my choice, long lasting).  It may not be a bad idea to let the center sag a little and put a small hole (1 inch max) at the bottom for moisture to drain out if it becomes a problem.  No more rambling now dammit

Well if it has a zipper or some sort of closing device on the front of it for access to shelves, dont try to seal it off, itll be fine. You do want to seal the bottom off pretty well to hold in humidity. If your just fabbing it up find a way to make it so you can access the shelves and close up the front when needed without glue or other permanent things.
