Drying

Question:
If I'm not going to eat the shrooms that I pick from my cake right away, do I have to dry them using a dessicant, or can I just leave them to dry out in the air. I have a few shrooms right now that I didn't dry out, and consequently they have turned nasty dark green and blackish colors. Are they still good to eat?
Also, once a cake has fruited once and I have harvested the first batch of shrooms, is it likely to fruit again, or is the one initial fruiting all I'm going to get? Thanks all.

1. Dry the shrooms using a fan for 24 hours followed by a dessicant chamber for 48 hours. This will provide cracker dry shrooms with no potency loss good for 6+ months if stored correctly.
2. Your shrooms have rotted. I advise against eating them. Next time, dry them using the method above.
3. Cakes, casings and such should provide 3+ yeilds each. After the initial yeild pick off all fruiting bodies and provide a constant 95+ rh% and good air exchange (2 to 3 times per day). In another week you should see more pins developing.
