did my reasearch this time.
    #4612829 - 09/02/05 02:48 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

this time i did my research. i found most of the ones that grow in Florida but there where a few i could not find such as
Gymnopilus aeruginosus (Peck) Singer
Gymnopilus sapineus
Copelandia westii
Psilocybe mammilata
Psilocybe tampanensis
Copelandia chlorocystis
they seem like a lot but out of 11 i got 5.
i found these and they have a purple spore print but no bluing i read that the blueing means it magic but their are a few exceptions i was hopeing these would be one of those exceptions.
* Habitat Miami Florida, mulch
* Characteristics of the gills brown, Grey not attached
* Characteristics of the stem (3 inch's, pale brown, solid, thin
* Characteristics of the cap size of a quarter,pale brown, wrinkles, spherical,concave)
* Spore print color purple

Take your pictures outside in natural light, discerning the colors on your mushroom and print is nearly impossible. Most artificial light is bad for taking pictures.

Props for the research, but just a reminder, there are some mushrooms that blue and are not magic, so get an id reguardless.

"thats how you can tell right "

no you got it, thats correct. glad to hear your doing your research.

unfortunately i have no clue what your mushrooms are, but they dont really look active. wait for someone else with the knowledge of the psilocybe containing mushrooms you listed, just incase it could be. and definately get some clearer pictures with more natural light.

if your in florida you should probably be looking in cow poo for psilocybe cubensis, and copelandia cyanescens.

What sort of habitat were these found in? With what i'm looking at - All that I can really say here is that it is nothing of edible interest, and is possibly poisonous.

cinnamon brown spores... they look like galerinas... if so they could be equaly poisonous as the death cap. although i still have no clue. definately not active.

you might wanna steer clear of rusty brown or cinnamon brown spores.

I would probably start with Agrocybe on these. As SOD suggested, Galerina is also a possibility.

Nothing you want to put in your mouth either way.

Happy mushrooming!

you probably want to look for cope cyans in miami. might have to go a bit north to find some cows, though.
