Can i dunk cakes after birthing
    #4622020 - 09/05/05 11:51 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I also have 9 cakes that i birthed 4 days ago, and i was wondering if i could dunk them after i birthed them. They seem kind of dry. any suggestions. Thanks.

sure, I just put into a large container, that I can put a weight on to keep the cakes under water, and put into frig for around 18-24 hours, the roll with verm.

there really isn't a need to dunk in the fridge, it will stall the myc (which is sometimes good) but going into fruiting it will delay pinning. if you have any concerns about bacterial growth during the dunk then do it in the fridge, otherwise just dunk at room temp.

Theyve started to show signs of knots/pins. Is it still ok to dunk. Do i need to sterilize the container? Do i need to add h2o2 to the dunking water? Thanks.

if you are that far along already maybe you should wait until after the first flush. i myself would go ahead and dunk for 12 hours at room temp and get them back to the fc. no fridge though, dunk in a clean sterile container yes. no reason to add h2o2 to the dunking water. the myc should be able to take care of itself as long as you are fairly clean.

The cakes just seem to be bumpy, thats what i would guess to be knots.

ahhh, close you are. go ahead and do the dunk, just handle the cakes very lightly. at this point i would wait to do any rolling until after the first flush, then dunk again and roll in verm.
best of luck
