Katrina's effect on the economy.
    #4620646 - 09/04/05 10:24 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

There has to be a hell of a lot of money to be made after this event. Anyone have any ideas of what to invest in or purchase to make a few dollars?

Go to NO and work with the construction teams.

I think skyrocketing gas prices and billions in proprty damage and looting will probobly make things worse despite money from reconstruction. When gas prices peak nothing will be cheap because of transportation costs and less people will buy, thus less jobs and less money and less jobs.

It's so nice to know that certain people are making a killing off of a natural disaster by raising gas prices. All the oil barons are celebrating for a reason to bleed us dry. Every gas station in america raises it's prices by 75 cents a gallon makes up for the gas not sold in the gulf coast by like 2 million percent.

I think that the reason they raised the prices is to keep the demand down. The gas supply is shorter than it used to be, because of the Hurricane, so the price increase is designed to keep fewer people from purchasing gasolie.

That makes a lot of sense. I had a wild theory that the gas hike equated to additional taxes to help pay for the HUGE recovery and reconstruction effort, but your theory makes a lot of sense too.
