Linksys routers...does anyoine have this?
    #4618694 - 09/04/05 06:06 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Maybe I'm bad at searching or something, but I can't find the drivers for my router.

It's a BEFSR41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port V.3

it was given to me and I don't have the disk to install it. I can't find any software online. Does anyone happen to have this and could possibly help me out here.

Hmm, Linksys's site has This page with support downloads for that router, but no drivers. Driversguide.com (generally a pretty comprehensive source for that kind of stuff) doesn't have any either, only firmware upgrades, which makes me suspect that it wouldn't need any drivers beyond standard windows stuff.

If you haven't already looked there, check out the above link. It's got a .pdf user manual and quick install guide that might help.

I did check that out already. Thank you.

I just realized that I spelled the title of this thread wrong.

I suppose I could check out the other stuff.

You dont need drivers for a router, its not something you need installed on your computer.

Just plug it in, connect ethernet cable to it, and set your ethernet card to automatically obtain an ip.

Then go to http://192.168.1.1 in your browser for web based configuration, username will be blank, password is "password"

Correction: password is "admin" on Linksys routers.

tak is right, though: you don't need any drivers. Just plug it in and it should work right away for you!

If it doesn't you'll have to go into the web-based setup by typing 192.168.1.1 into your browser address bar.

drivers & software arent necessary for routers.
you just have to forward the proper ports.
