How I solved Air Exchange In My Cake Chamber(Now I Have PINS!!!)
    #4617128 - 09/03/05 06:18 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Since I frequently have to work over time, I had to come up with a solution to my unability to manually fan my cakes. So I used 1" clear tubing, Gasket Maker, and polyfill. Voila!!!

I would like your comments.

Joke apart, you can't have a big control on Co2 accumulation and maybe that you'll lose a little too much humidity, but it's a good idea. Far than enough polyfil, and you can close your pipes if you lose too much humidity or if you want to made your Co2 build up in the chamber.. (for the casing colonization for exemple) If your using casing and your fruiting chamber for his colonization..

I have plugs for the pipes. And as far as humidity, I checked and I lost 2%. Not that big of a deal.

its great, lots of air can get in (oxygen) and out (co2). this appears to be a fruiting chamber for cakes, not for colonizing.

Good job fungus. I'd still fan it often though. I'm glad you worked the problem out.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

It would seem easier to hook up an air pump w/airstones and put a few holes in the bottom just above the perlite.

Actually, Consider these factors.

1. Total cost for my alteration...$3.00
2. Gas price alone to go get a air pump...$3.00
3. I am a electronics repair technician. I have a solder iron that reaches 1100~f. Cut through that plastic like air.
4. Aesthetically, it just looks fucking kool.lol.
5. Considering factor 4, It WAS pretty easy. Took about 10 minutes.

But thnx for your input anyway hawksapprentice. Thank you all! BTW, you cant tell by the picture but, There are a total of 6 hoses on bottom, and 6 on top. Reminds me of a big ass engine or something! LOL

Plus adding Airstones and such would make it more so a TiT than a ST....Lol...

Plus perlite gets sandy and clogs up airstones....

At day 8 after birthing, and spending 1 night in the new chamber, I noticed 4 pins on one cake. Yay. MY VERY FIRST PINS!!!!. This calls for a celebration. I think the chamber additions did it.  :handth:  :rastamon: :hippie: :eyemouth:  :headbanger: :headbang: :irishtoast: :toast: :cheer: :gethigh: :faded: :alc: :chugbeer: :rail: :juggle: :bananamusic: :rastana:  :dj: :winner:
