    #4616936 - 09/03/05 06:40 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Juat had a quick question...

The only aquarium I own is a 55 gallon fishtank, can someone point me in the right direction to utilize the entire space and amounts needed for a large grow.

I also have a 55 (for Fish), I think a 55 gallon or typical 55 is way to tall for a mushroom application at least for the money. It is still able to work. They make aquariums in "long" versions that would work better for the cost. I.E : a 20 gallon long.

Oh, forgot. if you have gear from a fish application you can use a lot of it for mushrooms. Submersible heater for humidity, hood and light for keeping in moisture and providing the mushrooms with some light even though they don't need much. If you have an air pump w/ air stone or bubble wall that could be use to provided fresh air even though you would need to get rid of CO2

Is it considered TOO big, like at keeping humidity and temp. levels accurate?

What are some of the problems I'm gonna run into going that big?

If not in the aquarium, what would I use for a large operation?

Submersible heater for HEAT, not humidity...

And I wouldn't use a fish tank for incubating, only fruiting.

While incubating, they (the jars) need complete darkness.

Look up TiT (tub it tub)

humidity and temp should be unaffected, that would work for a large operation but it's a lot taller than you would need. Just a 55 tank is a bit of an overkill even for a case because of the height of the walls. If that's what you have I guess it's better than going out and buying something new. Good luck!

heated water without the ability for the water to leave the tank creates huge amounts of humidity, this high humidity is also uses to breed tropical fish. I also agree only use for fruiting.

no too tall as in unused space. You should have no problem with any part of the process because of the height its just a lot of unused space unless you have 2 foot high mushrooms.

To tall as in co2 is heavier than air...It will work fine as long as it gets proper air exchange
