My attitute about War

Thou Shalt not kill. Doesn't matter who gives the order. They are just as guilty as the person doing the killing. In the eyes of God, anyione who has either of the above. Is guilty.
I am 60 years old and I am an American who loves my country and despises my government.
In my sixty years of life, I have been affected by 8 major wars. And a few minor wars. That comes out to one major war every fucking ten years.
Of couse we can go back to over three thousand years of big fucking wars on this planet.
Currently there are wars in many other countries which have been going on for decades and some for centuries (Israeli Palistinan war is over 2000-year-old).
Grasp that thought.
8 or more fucking human US wars in 60 years.
We are a waring nation.
World War II, Korean War, Viet Nam War, Panama, Granada, Bosnia, Gulf War (Bush the Father) Iraqi War (Bush the Son) And soon WWW III (Bush the Holy Ghost).
I think I may haqve left a few minor excursions off of the list.
What a beautiful world our leaders keep us in to support their governments.

outta here and across the continent to the far east and orient.

So if we are invaded, we should not kill the invaders?

Yes, war has been consistent throughout the history of mankind, a complex beast.

Well lets wait until we are and then we can think about that war.
And I believe that in those above wars we were not invaded byu many of the people we fought.
The Germans did not invade us. The Japs did.
Irac did not invade us, Al Quida did.
The Panamanians did not invade us,
the Bosnians did not Invade us, Granadans did not invade us.
Kuwait did not invade us and probablty was the only just war fought.
Vietnamese did not invade us, nor did the laotians or Cambodians.
The English invaded us and we fought them.
The north and the south fought a war. A stupid war for brother against brother and family against family.
No difference than the roman wars against each other or the wars fought int he Vedic scriptures three thousand years ago of brother fighting brother.
cest la vie

So, should we kill if invaded. All you did was make a long-winded reply without answering my question.

They're rioting in Africa They're starving in Spain There's hurricanes in Florida And Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering With unhappy souls The French hate the Germans, The Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs South Africans hate the Dutch And I don't like anybody very much
But we can be grateful And thankful and proud That man's been endowed With a mushroom shaped cloud
And we know for certain That some happy day Someone will set the spark off And we will all be blown away
They're rioting in Africa There's strife in Iran What nature doesn't do to us Will be done by our fellow man.
From the merry minuet by the Kingston Trio in the late 1950s

Sad part is, there is just way too many people who have been manipulated into thinking that war actually solves something. When in fact the only thing the victor accomplishes is to plant the seeds of future wars. The only way to really solve anything is through non-violence.
When you can reach an understanding between two peoples alot can be accomplished, but when all you are only interested in setting up a cash flow to your own interests it is hard to make a foriegn peoples understand that. They want their own nation to be great. You can't just insert american business around the world and expect people to be greatful. It doesn't work like that.

War should be reserved for the defense of our country. That's it.

Surely not the cliched "The best defense is a good offense", if that's what you are referring to. Our good offense has caused animosity which has spawned terrorist attacks on us.
I'm all for a powerful army. Where I disagree with you, though, is that I believe it should be for directly defending our citizen's lives, not our interests. I respect your opinion, and I hope you respect mine.

History books are awesome.
Clearly, you have not learned anything from history. Because history shows that all the wars we have fought have just led us into more wars. If war truely brought peace upon the world, then why do we keep having new wars pop up every so many years?
War will NEVER bring an everlasting peace, it is absolutely impossible. And because it is impossible we need to let it fade into history.

Hundreds of wars. Thousands of battles. They have shaped our world from the beginning of recorded human history. They have been fought for a multitude of reasons encompassing every civilization on earth.
Do yourself a favor and skip the reductionist blabber when it comes to complex things. It makes you look silly, uneducated, and not grounded in reality.

Speaking of more wars, I forgot about Afghanistan.
As for killing, If the USA is invaded by a force, then we all have the right to defend ourselves. All of the 8 wars I listed were in other peoples countries. Even Afghnistan. AL QUida attacked us and we went to war against the Taliban, Not Al Quida.
Again there have been nothing but war on this world between people with different thought processes, skin color and rich and poor.
mj, ITs called the waterhole mentality which was a prominant dforce in Arthur Clarkes 2001
