Im getting ready to do some small WBS casings. I can only find spagnum peat moss at wal mart, so that's what im using to case with. Do i really need to find lime or something for a ph buffer? If so what ratio do i mix the ph buffer and the peat at? I thought it was 4:1 but wasnt sure. Can i find the PH buffer at wal mart or not?

I would do a 50/50 vermiculite/ spagnum peat moss mix.
If you go to either PetsMart or PetCo, go over to the bird section and they WILL have Crushed Oyster Shells.
They are in a cardboard box with a picture of a bird on the front.
And yes, I definately recommend using a Ph buffer.
If you didn't need to, it would be on there.
If you have a car, you can go to your local nurseries to find Vermiculite.
I would call around first tho, since gas prices have skyrocketed.
I put 1.5 cups of crushed oyster shells in my 50/50 mix.
Here's what I did:
3 cups Vermiculite 3 cups Scotts Sphagnum Peat Moss 1.5 cups crushed oyster shells
And I just put them into my fruiting chamber yesterday.
And there is mycelia growth on the casing layer...
Hope this helps
BTW, Make sure you get SPHAGNUM PEAT MOSS
There are other types of peat moss with a wide range of Ph's..
And here's my Fruiting Chamber (took this pic yesterday):

Still gonna need vermiculite with coir
Edit:
Nevermind I get what you're saying, you wont need a Ph buffer with coir..
But I've never used coir, so I can't really help there..

Verm is needed with either peat or coir if you are going to do it right. I've seen plenty of bufferless peat casings produce quite a few shrooms but even more trich! Short term and long term buffers recommended, hell even coir can benefit from buffers not just for the long term but for the added structure it provides to a casing.

Also, coir is very high in nutrients and is much better suited as a substrate than as a casing layer. Many folks report 'overlay' with coir, when what is actually happening is by using coir they've actually added a second substrate layer. Peat is non-nutritious and better suited for use as a casing. I'd also recommend mixing it 50/50 with verm. Lime at 5% of the peat by volume if you're using hydrated lime. As said above, trich and cobweb really hate a high ph, while mushroom mycelium tolerates it just fine. RR
