    #4613286 - 09/02/05 06:49 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

okay. my cake fully colonized the other day. and ive had it in a fruiting chamber that i made from a tupperware container for about 3 or 4 days now.... perlite in the bottom.. fanning atleast twice every two hours... ive noticed these little things coming out of my cake, along with what seems to be possibly mycelium piss.

are these starting pins without heads???

is this the beginnings of pins? because more are growing. ive found a way to keep my fruiting chamber a bit more humid. by wrapping it with a heating blanket cut on. should i cut my light off more often now that the cakes have started to grow something? or no? and also this is a stupid question. but is there any way to hasten the grow? because man. if i did everything right. i am so going to celebrate. haha. if you know what i mean.

well, I can really tell much because those pics are blurry as heck. But from what I can see is that those pins are either suffering from C02 poisoning, or a very big lack of moisture. I'm going to say a little of both.

I would not wrap a heating blanket around them because you are going to just dry them out. Keep up on the Fesh air exchange and make sure you mist that cake about 3x's a day from about 12" away.

best of luck to ya

well i havent misted the cake. but i have been misting inside the container that its in... and i fan atleast 8 to 9 times a day. should i be misting the cake? and not the inside of the container?

also i havent been exactly doing 12/12 with the lighting. im kind of mixing it up. and tomorrow im gonna go find an old aquarium pump. i know i got one somewhere in the house.

remember that best temp is 72-74 and hummidity 95%-100%...you must come close to these to have healthy growth. Also with only one cake its harder to keep good humidity up, but try man try.
