 Just recieved spore print, what am I looking at??

Ok, I just got a spore print from sporeworks. It came in a manila envelope and then has a plastic sleeve witht the pic of the strain on it. There is a piece of white paper in there and a bunch of black stuff in the plastic sleeve. Is the print in the paper? The paper is folded in half. I don't want to open it because I don't want to contaminate it.

Yes, the print is on the paper. The print is all the "black stuff".

should it be all over the plastic though? can I use those as well? Also what is the chance that these were radiated at the post office?

I wouldnt use the spores that fell off the paper and into the plastic bag. I dont think your spores would have been radiated.

Make sure you use a ghlove box to keep contams out. I havent had any problems that way. Sporeworks has great sterile dark prints but I noticed when makeing the syringes if you are using a jar of pressure cooked water after adding the spores put the lid back on so the spores absorbe water. This causes the spores to sink better into the water and make your syringes darker and more efficent.

If you're in receipt of a spore print and you're asking the question "what am I looking at?" I'd suggest doing a lot of reading before opening that bag, or you'll fuck the whole thing up.
Don't mean to come across like a dick, but perhaps you should have gone with a syringe.

You can use the spores from the bag too without a problem. They should be as clean as the spores on the paper, no problem with that.

Freinds amoeba just recieved a print the other day in the same condition. It was difficult since the damn amoeba didn't have an arm much less an opposable thumb with which to do this but it managed to inject 2 clean syringes of h2o into the bag and sealed it again and mushed it around for a while. Then again managed to suck the lovely purpley water back up into the syringes (always remembering to flame steralyze the needles before and after putting them into the bag). The freaking micorscopic glob then innoculated a few test jars with that and said "Seemed ok. We'll see what happens."
