I bet the governator's gonna veto it. The voters voted against gay marriage, and he's gonna need those votes to be re-elected.

Last I heard most of the people are pissed at him. Doesn't look like he's getting re-elected no matter what he does. But then again, I'm no where near CA either.

I love how the Republicans say that God hates fags.

But there was similar controversy (albeit much more extreme to some people) over the beginning of interracial marriage. Discrimination will almost always fail if society is moving towards a more tolerant stance, and I believe America is slowly growing more tolerant. We're nowhere near as tolerant as some European countries, but they're also a bunch of fluffy, gun-hating communists.

You just can't get the best of both worlds. Gay marriage, or legal guns? Decriminalized marijuana, or private health care? Hard choices to make.

Somewhere in the US people can follow their hearts and do what they desire to do?

Just curious, but what does one have to do with the other? It seems to me like your trying to say the success of one determines the success of the other. Which I fail to see what they have to do with each other.

And what does gay marriage have to do with guns? Maybe I'm missing the sarcasm or something I dunno.

Good. Now I hope the gays are responsible about it. (ie, don't try to FORCE Churches to marry them etc.)

I predict San Fran's marriage rate going WAY up.

Some times the majority is wrong, it's good to see the government actually doing it's job sometimes.

I doubt anyone would legally "force" churches to do anything - that wont happen. There will be churches created that allow this - this is the proper route. Alternatives.

Rightwingers often bemoan the lack of freedom in regards to gun control while at the same time denounce gay rights. They are fucked - the libertarians have it right, though.

Yes but I was referring to a practical, real world application sense as to what one has to do with the other.

Much like left-wingers bemoan the lack of freedom in regards to gay rights while at the same time denouncing gun rights?

You are right about the libertarian part, though.

I am for gay rights and for gun rights. I bet there are alot of people like me too. I think that sterotype of left wingers needs to die.

I really do think that is a stereo-type. I define my self a socially liberal. I'm still for gun/gay rights.

The mayhem in New Orleans is actually a pretty good argument for gun rights. Would you like to be stuck in an American city during a tragedy without a gun? I am glad that I have one.

I was talking about the countries or areas we choose to live in. We could live in Canada, which apparently has gay marriage and decriminalized marijuana for the most part, but then again we lose our gun rights and we have to burden other's health care in a public health care system. And Canada isn't alone; a lot of European countries have some positives compared to the US, but enough negatives that we really need to choose.

i was thinking the same thing. it's a good example of why decent citizens need to arm themselves.
