Old mushrooms
    #4610725 - 09/02/05 12:34 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I'm halfway through a cup of mushroom tea made from really old mushrooms. They probably have been dry for at least 6 months inside a plastic baggie.

I broke open one of the rehydrated stems and the inside is all black. I'm guessing this is due to oxidation and not some mold that can make me sick but I'm not sure.

My questions: Can a fungus grow mold on it? Can I get sick off of mushrooms that have been well dried?

I'm not sure about this, but usually this happens when there is water present, if I am correct. But that takes awhile, not if you just made a tea with it.

You should be fine. The black was probably very dark blue bruising.
