It'll be legal as soon as they get a good taxing system on it and they can test how high someone is(something similar to a breathalizer).

unlike alcohol, pot is harder to control dosage, two nugs may look identical, but one could be WAYYY more potent. ive seen bud that looks so chron i almost got stoned looking at it, and had it do little for my high. whereas ive also seen bud i thought was shwag but that totaly got me ripppppeeeddd...
also they can test how high you are by testing your blood. theres an officialy "stoned" limit too just like with drinking, but i dont know the statistics or much about the whole process.

I estimate that will be around the year 2020.
The EU is slowly gravitating towards the Dutch model, Russia has taken a giant stride forward by effectively decriminalizing user quantities of most any drug..
We will have the Fentanyl revolution laying people dead in the streets by the thousands and massive addiction to extreme hard drugs..
We have the psychedelic lobby doing its thing..
I guess by 2020 the US Gov't will see its economically disadvantageous to jail people for pot.
If you sow five plants in your garden or buckets all the Dutch police can do is seize it. The weed of those 5 outdoor plants, for your own use, will hardly get you in trouble. You can buy 5 grams of any weed or hash in "coffeeshops" and are allowed to carry them on your person. Smoking weed on the streets or music concerts is discouraged but not illegal. This is Dutch reality. I wish it was Worldwide reality, for all of you, today

I say never. That's alot of DEA jobs and revenue lost for the federales from seized property. Plus it would make the government look like they didn't know WTF they've been doing this whole time, not that they need any help

I am guessing around 2040, because by then all the people who were alive in the POT IS EVIL stage, and most of their kids who grew up under their influence, will be dead. Still, I find it hard to imagine the US government admitting to a mistake this great. I am also thinking it will not happen under a republican government, seeing as how conservatives hate change, why would they change this? So 32 years allots a fair ammount of time for a large ammount of shit to change.

i wish i could grow pot
jailing people actually is cheaper i bet. for one, inmates work, making licence plates. that is not all i am sure. building roads, picking up trash. plus, if you think about it they are getting food whether inside or out, medical care inside or out. if everybody got out of jail there would be massive amounts of people on the streets. plus, the government owns all materials so it really doesn't matter if they say it costs money. they are just paying themselves. they own the food companies, the hospitals, the companies that keep inmates alive. its not like they are gonna "spend too much money" on jails and not keep the mines open and build more submarines money is a joke
it won't be legalized for taxes because they make alot more without taxing it. they sell most of the pot in the country. thats where the cia gets alot of money

Not that true, I logged on to the DEA site recently and it seems like they are not doing well. They estimated that approx 65 billion dollars worth of drugs are traded in the US alone, weed being the most traded. Of the 65 billion, they only recover about 1.4 billion dollars worth of illegal drugs annualy.
