Casing dilemma
    #4608184 - 09/01/05 02:46 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Well u see everyone here's my problem. I am left with the age old question, to case or not to case. So here it is i was wondering if i could somehow get by with using a layer of dry vermiculite only on top of my crumbled substrate. I've only grown with cakes in the past and this would be my first casing attempt, any input would be much appreciated.

Use a layer of moist verm on top. A moist layer on the bottom will also act as a reservoir and help soak up excess moisture.

read the casing teks man. If this is your first time and you only have like 4 cakes..just fruit them as cakes. If you have like 12 then try a casing or too. If you could get your hands on coco coir, i like that tek with some crushed oyster shell. Peat sometimes you have to worry more about PH. Just a suggestion
