Hopefully, hypercars will hit the market within a couple years, making new cars 3 times more fuel-efficient.

Run out of water? Are you fucking kidding? You do realize that it covers 75% of the Earth's surface, right? In any case, the hypercar technology is not based upon biodiesel or hydrogen technology(though they may eventually be developed to run on either of those). Its basic premise is ultra-lightweight technology, taking away much of the weight of the car through composite materials and replacing mechanical parts with electronics, making it essentially a computer on wheels.

Glad you asked. This has been one of the main concerns from people about lightweight cars. However, mere mass is not the best way to achieve safety. Using strategic design and eliminating much of the car's mechanical parts can leave more room for crash protection. Basically, these cars can be even safer than other comparably-sized cars.

I was being sarcastic about the water. So when are these "computers on wheels" supposed to be on the market? after america goes into a second depression?. or mainly the cost?..who would be able to afford these cars?..i guess all the doctors and lawyers get them while people like myself who live in poverty walk! i know it could be worse and i should consider myself lucky i even have a place to sleep im just blowing off steam.

You should consider yourself lucky you are able to walk. And that you are breathing.
Get over the damn gas porblem. So America has been spoiled too long. Now we all have to cry like children when reality smacks us around?

theres a guy near where i live that has figuered out a way to take chicken scraps and turn them into fuel for cars, generators, whatever. It apparently works just as well as gasoline, but it smells horrible when it burns and the people in the buisness next door actually got him evicted and shut down because the smell was so bad. That kind of pisses me off because if he could have figureed out a way to do something about the smell he could have saved the world considering chickens are a renewable source of energy and everything.

Then all the animal hippies would've had a hissy fit lol. Save the chickens...destroy the world.

And how would this lightweight hypercar fare in a crash? Would it become a "deathcar" that would be smushed like a soda can?

Tax gasoline .85$ per gallon until the Saudis produce more of it.

Amory Lovins, the man behind this idea, has lots of connections to big businesses and captains of industry, so I don't think it should be too long. Maybe a couple years. I think that first we're going to see it implemented in big rig trucks, since corporations will likely want to cut down on their transportation costs. When this stuff first hits the market, it may be rather expensive, but as it goes into mass production, the price should drop rapidly, and it should be no more expensive than current car models.
