not doin' too good...(w/pics)
    #4605596 - 08/31/05 10:26 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

if you guys remember my posts a while back, out of the six jars i inocculated, only 1 made it out alive. its been in the terrarium for about a week now and i've been seeing hyphal knots? my question is this, are those big bulges that i'm seeing mushrooms without heads? its been a little more than a week and it's been almost the same. the cake looks more fuzzy than the day i birthed it (the good fuzzy!) i have some pics for the guru's. info would be greatly appreciated so when its time to birth my other 4 (i made my own myc. syringe...i'll take pics tomorrow of the cakes) i don't screw em' up like i did for my first grow. thanks guys!!!

-by the way, i'll post up some better pics of the lonely cake in the terrarium tomorrow. those pics are from the day i birthed them.

Dont listen to him. Keep them gowing bro. From what Ive noticed from this PooGrowerPartDouche, is that he only responds negatively. Keep them up bro. It can take close to 2 weeks for pinning to start on cakes. I have some going myself. They look healthy enough, humidity looks good. It's just a waiting game now bro. Good Luck!!!

Yep, just keep on waiting.  You're getting hyphal knots, which is good.  So just a wee bit more patience, and you'll have them in no time.

And, no, cakes don't suck.

Cakes are the best way to start into this hobby. Next you could try casing your cakes....grinding or chopping them and casing them. You can get better results out of your cakes by using them as spawn to poo or whatever you choose to use. Or you could simply grind them, place a light damp layer of vermiculite in the bottom of a tray, thrown down your ground or chopped cake and case with coco coir/verm. The possibilities are endless : ) Have fun!

lookin at that ter. you might not wanna mist SO much since you arent fanning (aka opening up and lettin out moisture) Just a thought...im not sayin make it dry out but part of the procedure to get the cakes pinnin is the temp and slight humidity drop.

To intitiate pinning a slight drop in temperature, not humidity, is needed. Keep your humidity >95%.

Your cakes have more white showing than verm, much more. Roll the whole suckers and you will get mega pins.

Nice response....listen, if you don't have anything to say that is going to help him with what he is doing currently, don't respond to it.

Cakes do not suck for new growers and he shouldn't throw them out. You sir, are a dumbass. From looking at your previous posts, 90% of your suggestions have all been crap. For instance....telling people to "freeze fresh mushrooms so they last longer" as a way to store them. It seems that the only advice you give is so that they purposely fail, or mess up their harvested mushrooms. That isn't cool.

If you don't have anything positive to say, please STFU.

"Throwing out" their current supplies or grows is not good advice, as you have told people in other threads to do.

keep on it the_buried and be patient and you should see results soon.

ROLL THEM IN DRY VERM. THEN SPRAY A FINE MIST TO ABSORB AND MAINTAIN MOISTURE. IF THEY TURN BLUE, DON'T WORRY. ITS NOT A PROBLEM. ITS BRUISING. I ROLLED MINE SLOWLY, JUST FYI.

you guys are killer. i appreciate the expert advice (except for fuck-off) that you guys gave me. i just got home from work today and checked on the cake, and i saw two little pins growing in a v-shape on the side and like a cluster of em' on the top and stuff. if i get the ok from the wife, i'm going to go out and buy a syringe or two of some pesa and try my luck with casing.

oh yeah, heres some update pics as of today. the bluing is from me. i'm a curious fucker and i had to press on it to see how much pressure would cause bluing to happen (first time grower....gotta get a feel for the bad dads, ya know?) thanks again fellow shroomery members! you guys should all keep in touch with me so i can show off my babies when i get em'...

Hey man, you can buy coco coir at pretty much any pet store. You can usually find it under the brand name "Bed'a Beast", among many others. You can also go here http://www.wormsway.com/detail.asp?sku=SCB310 and order it in larger quantity, as well as many other great growing products! You just soak the coco coir block in hot water and it will expand and soften to you can break it apart : ) Happy growing!
