I'm going to be visiting my parents for the holidays this year, its a five week break from december to january... is it possible to innoculate some spawn bags and have them be ok to colonize over this 5 week period? could I slow colonization down with lower tempuratures so it will be ready for me when I get back? thanks roy

Yes, that would be fine. Just dont go much below 70 degrees or so, or they may not be done colonizing when you get back. One thing I would recommend is try to shake/ mix your grain once before your vacation, to distribute any already colonizing areas.

I'm either going to use B+ which I heard was a slow colonizer, or Gulf coast which is supposed to colonize fast... I guess I should use B+ though, I'm not worried about it not being fully colonized before I get back, I just wanted the head start so I can put it in my warm incubator when I get back to speed up the last remaining colonization. Should I just store them in a dark dry box while I'm gone, so it won't be too cold, but not warm enough to let it grow rapidly?

"Should I just store them in a dark dry box while I'm gone, so it won't be too cold, but not warm enough to let it grow rapidly?" Sounds like you have a plan. Everything should work out well!
