Hi, I'v been trying to find Tyvek to no avail for a week or so now. In canada you can't get it at the post office..not to my knowlage anyways. I was able to obtain a simalar cloth called Typar... it is used as house wraping. Its a non-woven fiber material.. really strong water proof but according to the web site allows for great vapour exchange. I think its a paper product... not sure if that will be subject to contams or not. I was wondering if anyone else has used this in place of the Tyvek?

Finding all my supplies in my small town has been a huge pain in the ass... insead of tyvek i gotta find the same shit called typar and as far as I know Coco COIR is unheard of for miles... I should try a hydroponics shop however. LOTS OF HORSE SHIT!! But I mean that in a good way.

there is very little info in the filtration abilities of typar, I suggest you try it with a couple of jars and see how it works, it's not available in my area so I cant do any sort of comparison

I did some reading on it and I would give it a try. It seems ok, but who knows. I say try it.

ya i think it's new, no wonder no one's heard of it. i even stared at it a bunch of times today, when i passed some new buildings that had "Typar" labeled all over it. I thought i was hallucinating cuz i was so tired at the time lol
you should go and find some info about it, if you want to buy some just ask that you want just a little bit cuz ur building a dog house and you don't need a whole roll of it. i would try it, i haven't yet cuz i never had to go buy it, and ya, take that person's suggestion about getting tyvek from fedex. try going to staples and there'll be a fedex drop box there at the entrance taht'll have fedex paks and those are made of tyvek.
good luck man
