I dont have a thermostat or a fish tank heater, and the top of my fridge is not warm, so i need an idea of how to incubate some jars, i have a hotpad but im not sure if it will burn my house down. Any ideas?

If all else fails, you can always just incubate at room temp. It will take longer, but it will work.

Tops of monitors, or anything that may give off heat works usually. I assume you don't want to go and actually buy something to heat it with right?

Radio is down for a day or two to transfer all my music, and do some other work.

A hotpad? Like....a heating pad? Never heard that term before.

Believe it or not. I am using a heating pad inside a priority mail box that is inside a tote. It warms up the air inside it just enough so the jars sitting on top of it are at a good temp.

The moral of the story? If you have a block of wood, or something else that disipates heat. You can place that on top of the heating pad, then place the jars on them.

Just keep track of your temps and add more/less padding accordingly.

Just because you cant physically tell a difference in temperature on top of the fridge, it doesnt mean it's not warmer. My hand in a closed fist, produces 96`f. 10 degrees hotter than what you need. So, naturally, above the fridge is gonna feel "cooler".No offense, but I dont like the idea of using a heating pad for 24hr usage. It's just not safe. If all else fails, go with the area above the fride. Or in a laundry room if you wish.

you don't have the money to make an incubator?

TIT is the one to have...if you can afford one.

I have friends that can't afford stuff...

and they put their jars on top of the frig, the freezer or the hot water heater...and they get great results.

I'd never use a heating pad...I don't want to see my house burn down.
