Why should we bail out NO/ Miss?

I'm just wondering why we should pay to rebuild these massive houses and buildings in New Orleans and other high-risk areas so that another hurricane can take them out again in 2 years? If it's just insurance money, thats OK. They paid for a policy and thats what they get. Now if they are taking my tax dollars to pay for it, I just have to ask if I'm getting the best deal for my money here.

We shouldn't. If that's what idiots want to do with their insurance money, or personal wealth let them.
I wouldn't rebuild there. They need to move that city out of the soup bowl it's in and rebuild elsewhere.
I have no problem using tax dollars for rescues and refugee camps and hospitals right now as well food and water and shit....these kids are going to be out of school for months or the full school year unless their families can relocate. One Million homeless.
I'm with you, fuck FEMA money going towards the repair of a 3 million dollar home.
That place will be so disgusting by the time they figure out how to get the water out, I think it should be condemned as a health hazard. They can't plug the levies and the water in the city is rising 2 feet per hour.

We should not rebuild a city that lies below sea-level.

lots of the homes in new Orleans are federally insured because the people could not afford insurance on property below sea level. ( the insurance companies charge more to insure your home if its in a flood plane.)
we (taxpayers) are going to have to pay for the rebuilding of all the federally insured homes.
I wonder if we are going to have to insure them again???

Of course. The Federal Government can't run out of money.

and if we are going to have to pay to rebuild it, can we at least ask the government to rebuild the homes above sea level. is that to much to ask?
its almost criminal if they use tax money to rebuild it in the same place.

New Orleans must be rebuilt. Why, beads would become worthless. And and and Girls Gone Wild would become a parody of itself. For all of America it will be returned to us in all of it's glory. Amen. Gimme another Bushmills there barkeep.

I'm not saying not to rebuild it, just to rebuild it up and out of the soup bowl. Want a frosty mug with that?
Seriously, did you see the oil leaking into the flood waters there and backed up sewage. Ewwwwwww that place is going to be so gross.

I think we should rebuild it with houseboats, then when it floods again, who cares.

People are idiots. They know how much of a risk it is, but they do it anyways b/c they are too fucking stupid how high the chances of it happening again are.
The same logic goes for people who build their houses on lake/sea cliffs, and assholes who build neighborhoods on islands that aren't much more than big sandbars.

I'm sure you'll have an active market since a lot of people are looking for new homes in ridiculous areas now that theirs were destroyed by the hurricane.

yeah it would be stupid to rebuild it and if they did rebuild it it's only going to be a matter of time before it's destroyed again. It's such a shame too because it's such a cool city with such a rich history.

It's not like you can't build flood resistant buildings.
Anything rebuilt with tax dollars should be required to be flood resistant.
